Community group Carse in Bloom held an opening event on Saturday to celebrate the completion of Semmidoes Garden in St Madoes.
The land near the High Street was made available by the Glencarse Playing Fields Association and the project led by volunteer and Carse in Bloom chairman Frank Kehoe.
To mark the occasion, a heritage fruit tree Lass of Gowrie was planted and a time capsule buried for future generations to find.
St Madoes School and 73rd Perthshire (West Carse) Scout Group have contributed by helping with planting and by building the insect tower.
The garden’s name was selected from a number of suggestions by local people because Semmidoes is the historical local pronunciation of the village’s name.
The group raised more than £30,000 with the help of umbrella organisation the Take a Pride in Perthshire Association.
Mr Kehoe said: “We hope it will provide a focus for the future and bring people together to celebrate all sorts of annual events, as well as to enjoy the physical and health-giving benefits of gardening with like-minded people.”
