North east Scotland MSP Alex Johnstone has claimed housing bosses have little or no confidence in SNP plans to break up Britain.
Mr Johnstone was speaking after the Chartered Institute of Housing Scotland said only one in eight who responded to a poll were optimistic of positive change should the SNP win a yes vote.
Half of those said they needed far more information on what independence would mean.
Mr Johnstone said: “It appears, just like in so many other sectors, housing bosses have little or no confidence in SNP plans to break up Britain.
“Alex Salmond constantly bangs on about how his society would be fairer but here we have people at the sharp end saying this almost certainly wouldn’t be the case.
“The Scottish Government doesn’t understand the pressures on the housing sector. It cut the housing budget at a time when the construction sector is toiling and that will have a huge knock-on effect for job creation.
“Salmond’s separation fantasy is dwindling by the day.”
