The scene of the collision on the B9113 at Quarry Park.

Three men are in hospital after the car they were travelling in flipped over and smashed into a wall in Angus.

The driver of the Peugeot 106, a 19-year-old man, is in a critical condition in Ninewells Hospital with head and chest injuries.

The front seat passenger, a 19-year-old man, sustained a head injury and is in a serious but stable condition.

One of the back seat passengers, a 19 year-old man, sustained a number of facial fractures and underwent surgery. He’s in a stable condition.

The other backseat passenger, a 17-year-old man, sustained significant bruising but was not seriously injured.

Emergency services attended around 3.40am on Sunday to find the black car had left the B9113 while travelling from Forfar to Montrose.

It is understood the car had hit an earthen road edge and subsequently lost control before demolishing a 10-foot section of dry stone dyke at Quarry Park Cottage, which sits on the road between Rescobie and Balgavies lochs.

The road was closed to allow for an inspection of the accident site and to allow for the clearance of debris from the scene.

The incident occurred at the end of a 400-metre straight stretch of road, where the B road bears right, before the crossroads to Turin and Balgavies.

The police have appealed for any witnesses to ring them on 101 or speak to any police officer.
