Navy trying to declare missing Perthshire sailor dead, claims MP
ByDave Lord
Officials have made moves to declare a missing sailor dead without first meeting with his family, it has been claimed.
Leading Seaman Timmy MacColl, from Killin, vanished while on shore leave in Dubai last May.
Now Tory MP Caroline Dinenage has claimed the Royal Navy is attempting to have him declared dead without having spoken to wife Rachael. The politician said the move could take a terrible emotional toll on the missing 28-year-old’s family.
Ms Dinenage also warned that Rachael and the couple’s three children could be forced to leave their military accommodation if the application is successful.
Mr MacColl was last seen getting into a taxi at Port Rashid and has never been found.
