A young woman has been raped in a taxi while travelling home from a city nightclub.
The 23-year-old was with a man at Cav nightclub in Edinburgh’s Tollcross area before the pair took a black cab to East Lothian at around 3.20am on Saturday June 1.
The woman was dropped off in Ormiston and contacted police later that week to report having been sexually assaulted by the man during the journey.
Investigators are appealing for the taxi driver who picked up the pair to come forward as a potential witness.
Detective Inspector Carol Craig said: “We are keen to trace the driver of this vehicle as soon as possible to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.
“Any black cab drivers who believe they picked up a couple near the Cav nightclub on Saturday June 1, before travelling to East Lothian, is asked to contact police immediately.”
Anyone with information can call Police Scotland on 101.
