Drivers using a notorious Fife road have been warned to slow down following a morning of action to tackle speeding on the route.
The Fife Safety Camera Partnership detected 21 drivers breaking the speed limit at the A92 Balfarg junction during the Friday morning rush hour, despite repeated warnings over road safety at the Glenrothes site.
Andy Jones, manager of the Fife Safety Camera Partnership, warned motorists that as long as they continue to ignore the 50mph limit, measures to detect those breaking the traffic laws would remain in place.
“There have been a number of concerns over the years that have been raised by the local community,” he told The Courier.
“That site obviously has a history of collisions and it also has a history of excessive speed. But we will continue to monitor the site as long as people continue to drive at excess speed.”
In total, the partnership has detected 278 motorists breaking the limit through the junction in the five-year period from May 2008 to May this year.
The area is considered dangerous by many users of the A92.
It was thrust back into the spotlight last month after the leader of Fife Council, Alex Rowley, promised to return safety at the stretch back to the top of the political agenda.
Mr Rowley told The Courier that safety issues at the A92 must be looked at closely.
He made his comment following the level of concern expressed by votersduring the recent Glenrothes North, Leslie and Markinch by-election campaign.
He said: “People want to see the A92 higher up the agenda.”
