Dundee bar owners have been ordered to pay the manager they unfairly dismissed more than £8,700.
Hawkwire Ltd, who run White’s Bar in Provost Road, must pay Linda Stirling the sum for unfair dismissal, pay in lieu of annual leave and breach of contract for failure to give notice of termination of employment.
Mrs Stirling previously received an employment tribunal default judgment that she had been unfairly sacked.
In calculating her remedy, the tribunal noted that she began working at White’s in 2004 and remained through a number in changes of ownership.
Hawkwire, of Drumlanrig Drive, took over in July last year and a contract of employment was entered into in October confirming her eight years’ continuous employment.
The tribunal recorded that she was dismissed by Hawkwire on December 8 without notice or payment in lieu of notice. She has since found another job.
Hawkwire were not represented at the hearing, did not dispute Mrs Stirling’s claim and did not take part in the tribunal proceedings.
