A Monifieth bike shop owner and dad-of-three has died after collapsing in the street.
Malcolm Fryer, 52, was recovering from cancer for the second time but suffered a heart attack while in the town’s High Street.
Mr Fryer, who owned MGR Cycles in Monifieth, was undergoing the final stages of chemotherapy for cancer in his neck.
He had been shopping for hayfever tablets for his 15-year-old son Rhyan when he collapsed at about 9am on Thursday.
He suffered a fatal heart attack as he was taken to Ninewells Hospital.
His wife Genevieve, who lives in Rossie Avenue in Broughty Ferry, said: “I’m still absolutely numb. I can’t believe that I woke up to a perfectly normal day yesterday.
“I said ‘bye’ to Rhyan and told Malcolm I would see him tonight, and by 10.30am I was a widow.
“He was in the last two weeks of his chemotherapy, which they said would be the most difficult, but he still carried on.”
Mr Fryer, who had two other children Gary and Audrey had opened the bike shop with Genevieve in 2005. He had previously served in the RAF for 12 years.
Born in Singapore, Malcolm spent most of his life in Monifieth, attending Carnoustie High School.
