Dundee striker Leigh Griffiths insists he’ll pull out all the stops in order to face Ross County this weekend.
Last term’s top scorer has missed training so far this week because of a knee injury but he is determined not to be sidelined when County come calling.
He said, “I went to train on Monday and felt the knee so I pulled out as a precaution.
“Hopefully though I’ll be back by Thursday as this is a massive game and one we need to get back to winning ways in.”
He added, “Ross County will be smarting after losing to Falkirk and they’ll be keen to come here and repeat last season’s 1-0 win.”
Griffiths has just one competitive goal to his credit so far this term against Stenhousemuir in the Alba Cup but with coach Billy Dodds driving him on in training, he is optimistic that better is to come.
He said, “Doddsy has been great with me he’s been telling me that the most important thing is to keep my head up and the goals will come.
“Doddsy has played at the highest level so I couldn’t ask for anyone better to learn from.”
He added, “I’m sure the goals will come. Maybe because I scored so many last season people are looking for me to do the same all over again. But, at the end of the day, I’m just concentrating in getting up and running in the league and taking things from there.
“I might have missed a couple of chances so far but I try not to let that bother me.
“In football the most important game is always your next one.”
Boss Gordon Chisholm is hopeful that the Dark Blues’ other casualty from the weekend goalkeeper Rab Douglas will also be available to face Ross County on Saturday.
He said, “Rab isn’t a major concern, and I’d be hopeful Eric Paton will be back training by Thursday after he bumped his shoulder on the astroturf at Stenhousemuir.”
