A DUNDEE man still recovering from an alleged robbery at his business says his Christmas has been ruined after his family’s dream £35,000 Audi car plus all their gifts were stolen while they slept.
The Wightman family awoke yesterday to find all the gifts taken, their car stolen and a handbag missing from their Americanmuir Road home.
The car was later found a quarter of a mile away in Prieston Road, Kirkton.
Andy Wightman (51) understood it has suffered some damage but he did not expect to see it until police forensic officers have examined it for clues.
Mr Wightman, who has had to deal with an alleged armed robbery at his Stobswell Newsagents in the past month, said the family were all “gutted” about the theft.
“It’s just been an absolute nightmare,” he said. “We feel violated to know that they were in our house.
“We are happy the car has been found but disgusted that someone has stolen it and has been in our house and violated our property.”
The thieves gained entry to the house before taking the keys to the grey Audi Q5 S-Line, belonging to Andy’s wife Margo and bearing the registration M100 RGO.
“It’s only three years old and cost me around £35,000,” said Andy.
Margo’s handbag was also stolen along with Christmas presents she had justfinished wrapping.
Andy said: “They’ve taken my grandson’s Christmas presents, my two sons’ presents and my daughter-in-law’s.
“We were having the whole family round for Christmas and it’s absolutely ruined it.
“This past month has been terrible, with the incident at the shop as well.”
Andy’s wife made the discovery around 7.30am.
Tayside Police are appealing for anyone with information on the crime to contact them on 0300 11 2222 or the crimefighting charity Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
