Now they finally have that elusive home win, Dundee United need to re-establish their dominance at Tannadice over a longer period, according to keeper Radoslaw Cierzniak.
The Pole helped get new manager Jackie McNamara’s reign as Tangerines boss off to the perfect start with a 3-0 Scottish Cup win over Rangers.
The victory was their first on home turf since August, with the winless run stretching into double figures.
Now the challenge is to replicate that impressive cup form in the league, when Hearts come to town on Saturday.
Cierzniak said: “This is a big month for us. We have to play better than we have been of late, with the exception of the Rangers cup game.
“We have to win at home as well, which is very important. We will focus firstly on the Hearts game which is coming up on Saturday and hopefully get the three points.”
McNamara had just two days to prepare his team for Saturday’s high-profile clash with Rangers.
The run-up to the Hearts game has afforded him much more time to get his ideas across on the training ground, and Cierzniak is hoping the players will feel the benefit of it as they aim to rise up the SPL table from their current seventh position.
The Pole noted: “It was a very busy week with the new manager coming in, but it worked out well in the end. Everybody just got their heads down and worked hard to get on with the job in hand.
“We all have the same target, which is to focus on the future and hopefully we can kick on from here.
“We were very happy to beat Rangers. It was an important game for the fans and the players to get a home win and a clean sheet. We would like to get more of those in the future to help us move up the table.”
