A cystic fibrosis charity was chosen because a regular at the pub, Forbes White, lost his daughter Joy to the genetic disorder. Regulars at the Royal Arch had been filling the bottle with money for years. Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson presented a cheque to Julia White, representing a cystic fibrosis charity. Landlord Jonathan Stewart said: “It’s Burns supper the Dundee way! “I remember back in the day when Bell’s bottle breakings for charity were an almost weekly occurrence.”
