Households affected were in Gilfillan Road. Scottish Water attended at 11pm and the main was repaired and supply restored an hour and a half later. A spokesman said: “We apologise for the inconvenience caused to local residents.” The fault came hours after a similar problem in Pittenweem. A burst main there affected hundreds of houses and forced two primary schools and a nursery to close for the day.
