Forth Ports have helped maritime training charity Taymara reach open water, but by a lift-off rather than a launch.
With the Camperdown Dock gate closed due to a technical fault, the charity appealed to the port owners in a bid to get its vessels to sea.
The Badger was lifted from Victoria Dock and put on a low loader, taken to King George V wharf and gently lowered into the Tay.
It immediately set sail for Arbroath where it will spend the summer.
Taymara’s other vessel, Marigot, is still in Victoria Dock, but the workforce at the Port of Dundee expect that the lock gate will be released soon and that Marigot may resume her seagoing projects, and the popular Tay river trips.
The charity thanked harbour manager Matt North and his staff for their assistance, which will ensure the busy summer schedule almost runs to time.
The Tay River Trips will begin in July as Marigot has to undergo her annual refit and safety inspection before passengers may be embarked.
