Dundee manager John Brown and Dundee United coach Darren Jackson were joined by fans from both sides of the city in the final countdown to this weekend’s Rivals4Charity football match.

Hearts fan Scott Moncrieff has organised the match between the rival teams’ fans, with proceeds going to the Homeless World Cup charity.

Scott said: “It’s all organised, the teams are raring to go now. The nerves are starting to kick in now it’s almost upon us.”

The match has been open to all fans and those hoping to play at Dens this weekend have been whittled down to two rival teams, with all players raising sponsorship for the privilege.

Scott is calling for as many supporters as possible to come along to the 1pm match on Saturday and cheer their side on to victory.

“We’re hoping to raise around £7,000,” he said. “This is just normal fans playing in aid of the Homeless World Cup.”

Supporters can pay on the gate to see their fans teams fight it out in the charity derby.

Scott first got involved with Rivals4Charity in 2006 when his friend first came up with the idea of a charity match to be played on the capital’s Leith Links.

What was meant to be a friendly kick-about between fans from the Hearts and Hibs forums turned into a full-blown game at Tynecastle.

Since then the organisers have raised nearly £60,000 for charity. Admittance to Saturday’s game is £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
