Former housing manager and charity fundraiser Margo Chalmers, 63, has died following a short battle with cancer.
Born in Perth in December 1949 to Stewart and Betty Chalmers, she grew up in Friarton with her brother Bill.
She attended Southern District and Central District primary schools and then Perth High, before moving to Aberdeen with her parents in 1968.
After a short spell working in telesales in the city, she returned to Perth, taking up a post with the housing department, where she remained for 32 years.
A member of the Salvation Army, Margo was also well known for her charity work. Following her father’s death from motor neurone disease, she began raising money for MND Scotland.
She was then part of a fundraising team that raised £36,000 for a scanner at PRI urology unit. Margo and her partner Vince also organised fundraising quizzes for a variety of charities and causes.
In addition, she volunteered at several local organisations including Bravehearts Children’s Trust, Cornhill Macmillan Centre and Perth & Kinross Society for the Blind.
Margo is survived by her partner Vince and her brother Bill.
