Tayport blacksmith John Cooper has died days before his 70th wedding anniversary.
Mr Cooper, who was known as Jack, died at Pitkerro Care Home in Dundee after a long illness. He was 90.
Originally from North Shields, Mr Cooper settled in Tayport. He was the local town blacksmith until 1974 when he moved to work with Bett Brothers Limited until his retiral in 1986.
His legacy can be seen throughout the streets of Tayport, in particular the gates to the Burgh Chambers and those of Tayport Bowling Club.
Away from work he was also an auxiliary fireman with Tayport Fire Service. He joined in 1954 and served for 25 years.
Mr Cooper is survived by his wife Agnes, who is also a resident in Pitkerro Care Centre. The couple were to have celebrated their Platinum wedding anniversary on May 28.
They have two daughters, Margaret and Alison, both of whom live in Tayport, and a son John who lives in Coleraine in Northern Ireland.
