Adventurer Mark Beaumont backing Perth Kilt Run record bid
ByThe Courier Reporter
Proud Scots everywhere have been urged to help Perth bring home a stunning new World Record.
Perthshire adventurer Mark Beaumont issued his rallying call ahead of its second annual Kilt Run. The city will once again attempt to break the existing record for most runners in kilts when the event takes to the streets on Saturday August 10.
Last year’s 8km run, pictured, attracted more than 10,000 spectators but saw a packed kilted field narrowly fail to beat the record of 1089 participants, set by Canadian counterparts in Perth, Ontario.
More than 1070 runners took part on the day as part of a multinational field that also included the Canadian World Record holders themselves. Also among them was Mark, who is keen that the second bid is a success.
“Last year’s inaugural kilt run was a superb day out,” he said. “It was just a great shame that we missed out on the world record.
“Us Scots should definitely hold the world record. Let’s bring this title home!”
