A motorist admitted driving the wrong way up the busy A90 forcing other drivers to swerve to avoid a head-on crash.
Banned driver Kaspars Jansons, 38, Cowieshill Farmhouse, Laurencekirk, was arrested at around 10.20pm on Saturday following the incident on the A90 near to the North Water Bridge.
Appearing from custody at Arbroath Sheriff Court, Jansons had sentence deferred for four weeks for the preparation of reports and was granted bail.
He admitted driving dangerously the wrong way down a slip road towards an oncoming vehicle. Jansons narrowly avoided crashing into it by mounting the grass verge, before joining the main A90 facing in the wrong direction.
He drove towards oncoming traffic on the northbound road, causing it to take evasive action and then mounted the central reservation, eventually coming to rest in the outside lane of the carriageway.
Jansons also admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath at Arbroath Police Office and driving while disqualified and without insurance. The farm worker was on bail from Edinburgh Sheriff Court at the time.
Sheriff Peter Paterson deferred sentence until June 18.
