Safety concerns over falling masonry at Dundee flats

Public safety concerns over falling masonry led to emergency services cordoning off a section of Pleasance Court car park.
Police have established an exclusion zone around part of the building to ensure the safety of residents. Firefighters spent more than an hour at the site cleaning away debris from the roof.
Councillor Fraser Macpherson said it was “extremely lucky” no one was injured after masonry fell from the south side of the building into the car park. No vehicles were damaged.
“The exclusion zone doesn’t prevent people getting into their homes, they just have to take a bit of a detour until the building is inspected,” he said.
“What’s important now is that all steps are taken to make the building entirely safe.”
Ross and Liddell, property agent for numbers 1-47 of the owner-occupied close, responded quickly and has instructed a contractor to undertake a full inspection of the roof and make it safe before repairs are carried out.
