Born in Edinburgh, Mrs Gordon attended Roslin Primary School and Penicuik High School before going on to study music at Dundee College. She returned to her old high school to teach music after qualifying. While studying at Dundee she met Bill, who she married at Loanhead Church in 1973. The couple moved to Perth, where Mrs Gordon became a music teacher at Perth High School. Promotion followed and she then moved to Perth Grammar School, where she taught for more than 30 years until her retirement in 2008. She also sang with the Cecilian Singers and was a member of Perth Choral Society and founder member of Chansons. She played the accordion in Bill Wilkie’s band for more than 30 years. Away from music, her love was animals and cats and dogs in particular. Perth and Kinross Council’s lifelong learning convener Bob Band said: “Our thoughts are with Freda’s family, friends and colleagues at this time.” Mrs Gordon is survived by her husband.
