One of Perth’s top car dealerships was closed to customers on Sunday as police officers investigated an overnight break-in.
Thieves targeted Cameron Motors, on the city’s Motor Mile, during the hours of darkness and made off with one of the forecourt’s most distinctive vehicles.
The brown Volkswagen Touareg 4×4 was valued at up to £60,000.
A police spokeswoman said: “We attended at Cameron Motors in connection with reports of a break-in. A brand new VW Touareg three-litre vehicle was taken.
“It’s described as brown in colour, with a beige interior and has a ‘distinctive’ sunroof.”
The thieves may have taken steps to disguise its origins, she said.
“As it was a brand new vehicle, it did not yet have any registration markings, though it may have been fitted with false plates,” she added.
“Anyone who has seen a vehicle matching this description in suspicious circumstances, or who knows of its current whereabouts, should get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Camerons declined to comment on the break-in.
