Plans for a huge autumn music festival in Camperdown Park will go before council licensing chiefs this week.
Jam in the Park, which will be run along the lines of the Radio 1 Big Weekend, could see two massive tents holding a total of 12,000 paying customers, plus 1,000 “VIP guests” each day over the October holiday weekend.
An 80-page event safety plan, including details of security, catering and policing, will be discussd by the licensing committee on Thursday.
The proposal from Jam Promotions Ltd was due to be submitted to the council last month but was withdrawn so that amendments could be made to the application.
The plan states: “The main elements are two ‘big top’ tented structures where the main performances will take place and a clearspan marquee housing the ‘up and coming’ stage for local and Scottish acts making a breakthrough in the industry.”
The proposed event includes an event arena consisting of “three stages programmed with music, bars and catering outlets.”
If the event is given the green light, the organisers say the line-up will focus on national artists.
The plan states: “Headliners will be approached who have a mainstream crossover radio profile and width of appeal to an uncommitted audience as well as a strong ticket selling history.”
