A Dundee man supplied a drug to a friend who later died, the sheriff court has heard.
Alistair Ramsay, 22, bought the drug, which he believed to be ecstasy, for a “recreational experiment”.
Dundee Sheriff Court was told that Ramsay, of Heather Gardens, was later contacted by friend, Craig Morrell, who wanted the drug.
Ramsay admitted that, on July 23, at Dalmahoy Drive and elsewhere, he supplied a controlled drug to Craig Morrell, now deceased.
Solicitor Theo Finlay said: “On the day of the offence, he had a couple of tablets left. The deceased contacted him several times, asking Mr Ramsay to provide him with ecstasy.
“There was no commercial element, they were simply given to him.
“Being a conscientious and decent young man, after the death of the deceased he had an agonising time and it was playing on his conscience whether or not he had been involved in his friend’s death.”
A pathologist’s report indicated the cause of death was epilepsy.
Sheriff Way ordered Ramsay to complete 190 hours of unpaid work.
