Daniel Woods who trains and teaches with Kanzen Karate in Dundee has been selected to represent Scotland at the World Union of Karate Federations (WUKF) World Championships in Romania this week.
The squad, comprising 11 athletes and three coaches, will fly out to Bucharest, hoping to put Scotland on the international map for karate.
Daniel has been training with Kanzen Karate and Sensei Roy O’Kane for almost 10 years and is a former Scottish champion. He will be competing in both Kata (free form) and Kumite (sparring) events as well as being selected for the adult male team.
Daniel said: “I’m quite confident. I’ve picked up medals in every tournament this year, so I’m looking forward to it. It’s been a lot of hard work, but it’s a great opportunity.”
Kanzen Karate head coach Mr O’Kane has been selected as part of the coaching staff and will also be travelling to Romania.
Sensei O’Kane has been training in karate for 19 years, has won six Scottish titles and represented Scotland internationally for more than six years.
