Mark McConnachie was airlifted to hospital after the crash on Sunday. The collision happened on the A93 Aberdeen to Braemar road. The 45-year-old has been under sedation in hospital in Aberdeen since the accident and his partner Linda has been at his bedside. Mark’s parents, Bill and Margaret McConnachie, who live in Wellbank, travelled to Aberdeen on Wednesday, along with Mark’s brother Ian. Ian said the family were desperately waiting for news on Mark’s condition. He said: “They weren’t sure what caused the accident, just that he slid out. He’s been under sedation and they will decide when to bring him round.” Ian said he and Mark have ridden motorcycles since they were about 16. Mark had been riding with other enthusiasts from Angus on Sunday. The accident, which involved Yamaha and Aprilia motorcycles, happened half a mile east of Coilacriech, Ballater.
