A man accused of stalking his former landlady claimed that she had spent weeks trying to seduce him.
Jeronimo Bouceiro took to the witness stand at Perth Sheriff Court to deny the accusations against him.
He told the trial that Gillian Farnington a serving police officer had been “too friendly” towards him after he started renting out her spare room in April 2011 and that, over the weeks, she behaved in a “promiscuous” manner.
Bouceiro also claimed that when he did not respond to this, her attitude towards him changed and she became “bitchy”.
The accused, of Main Street, Crook of Devon, denies engaging in a course of conduct that caused Ms Farnington fear and alarm between May 27 2011 and March 23 last year by texting, calling, emailing and writing to her, stating he was in love with her and was watching her.
He is accused of accessing her private documentation to establish her holiday details and of following her to a resort in Turkey.
Against her requests, he is said to have called her at home and attempted to force entry to her house and to walk around her property without permission.
He is also said to have placed flowers on her car when she parked it at her workplace and to have carried out surveillance to establish her new address and phone number.
The trial continues on Friday.
