A Tayside singer with top stage and screen credits on his CV is celebrating a major professional honour.
Callum McIntosh has performed on Broadway and in Hollywood, singing in concerts and recording with international stars including Andrea Bocellli, Michael Ball, Bryan Adams, Michael Buble, Liza Minnelli, Katherine Jenkins, Elton John, Robbie Williams and Take That.
In addition, the Montrose man’s film soundtrack work has involved him in the vocals for blockbusters such as the recently-released Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo Di Caprio, the Twilight Saga, the Dark Knight Rises and Pirates of the Caribbean.
As he prepares for a Scots date with an a cappella group which has toured across the globe in 2013, Callum caught his breath to become an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (London) for his significant contribution to the music profession.
The presentation was made by Lord Burns, the chairman of the organisation’s governing body, who said Callum was “an ambassador for the Academy”.
After gaining his B.Ed (Hons) Music in Aberdeen, Callum embarked on a musical theatre postgraduate course at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating with distinction and also gaining the LRAM award in 2001.
Callum has been praised for his positive impact in combining education and community projects with musical writing and theatre performances for special needs adults and children with autism, developing modern Bollywood and urban musical interpretations of theatre classics.
