Man detained by police after ‘suspicious’ late-night death in Blairgowrie

A man has died after being found seriously injured in the street in Blairgowrie on Sunday night.
Police were called to the Wellmeadow area, near the Crown Bar, at around 11.45pm after the 44-year-old was found.
He was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later. He has not been formally identified.
A 25-year-old man has been detained by police in connection with the incident and is assisting with police inquiries.
A police spokesman said: “Inquiries into the full set of circumstances surrounding the incident are being carried out by the Specialist Crime Division, Major Investigation Team (North).
“The area where the man was found has been cordoned off while full forensic examination continues. His death is being treated as suspicious.”
