Dundee City Council is to carry out inspections on all eight schools in the city that were built under the PPP arrangement.
The council have instructed Robertson Facilities Management to undertake initial inspections after the emergency closure of schools built under the scheme in Edinburgh.
Schools that were built under the initiative in the city are Grove Academy, St Paul’s Acadamy and Craigowl, Claypotts, Downfield, Fintry, Rowantree and St Andrew’s primary schools.
A spokesperson for Dundee City Council said: “Discovery Education, the consortium behind the Dundee Schools PPP project, has instructed Robertson Facilities Management to carry out initial inspections on all eight PPP Schools in the city.
“The results of these surveys, and information being released regarding the technical details of the Edinburgh situation, will inform Discovery and the city council of any further surveys or course of action to be taken this week.
“Parents and families should plan for these schools to be open after the holidays on Monday April 18 and we will keep them informed with updates.”
Derek Shewan, chief operating officer at Robertson Group, said: “We have a close working relationship with Dundee City Council’s education team. While we are confident in the quality of build at all schools, we have offered to carry out inspections at all locations as a priority, in line with the recommendations of the Scottish Government.”
Robertson was also involved in the construction of six new primary schools in Angus, and an extension of Carnoustie High School.
Angus Council said they have seven schools built under PPP agreements but none by the company responsibile for the Edinburgh schools.
A spokesman added they will check all recently built schools but have no reason to suspect any problems.
