Dundee United assistant boss Simon Donnelly insists the management team will continue to go about their business as usual while admitting they fully understand the difficult situation they currently find themselves in.
The Tangerines have lost their last four games in a row, including Saturday’s match against Kilmarnock at Tannadice and sit second bottom of the Premiership table.
That faltering form has sparked rumours that manager Jackie McNamara’s position could be under threat.
However, Donnelly insists they firmly believe they will soon turn things around.
He said: “Unless we are told differently, we will go and do our jobs which is to try and get results that’s never changed.
“We are fully focused on that and we will go out this morning and get the boys ready to go again.
“We know the situation we are in we are not daft.
“We know we need results, that’s the thing.
“I can sit here and tell you how well I think the players are doing or how well I think the lads competed at the weekend but if we don’t get the results, it doesn’t matter.
He added: “We are going through a sticky spell and we think we can turn it.
“We see this as a five-year project and I don’t want to harp on about players we have lost but you don’t anticipate things like that happening so quickly.
“So you can call it what you want a transitional period or whatever.
“We know we need to get results but I think the performances are there or thereabouts.
“We have been through sticky spells before here but this is probably the hardest start to a season for us.
“But I keep going back to say the belief and the confidence we have in the boys we know the quality they have.
“We are calm. Saturday’s game is just as big as last week or the week before.”
