St Mirren v St Johnstone: No let-up in Robbo’s injury tale of woe

St Johnstone midfielder David Robertson’s injury woes continue.

He will now be sidelined for 10 days after needing an injection to cure an ankle problem. Robertson is keen to prove his value to the Perth club after securing a deal through to Christmas following his leg break a year ago.

Manager Tommy Wright said: “It is very frustrating for Robbo. He has to sit things out for the next week or so.

“He has had a horrendous time of it but he is a strong character and will come through it.”

Going out of the door is young keeper Zander Clark. He has joined Queen of the South on an emergency loan.

Wright added: “This move is ideal for Zander because he needs to be playing first-team football to enhance and develop his game.”

All the Saints players who were away on international duty return safe and sound with no reported injuries.

Meanwhile, the battle of the Saints tomorrow will see the Perth men look to maintain the quality they produced in hammering Inverness Caley Thistle 4-0 at McDiarmid Park before the international break.

The Paisley team’s recent results have picked up markedly, with a draw against Aberdeen and win over Hearts easing the pressure on manager Danny Lennon.

Wright said: “I watched them against Aberdeen and have assessed the DVD of their win over Hearts at Tynecastle.

“They work extremely hard for each other, there is a real togetherness about the team and their confidence will have been boosted by the win before going into the break.

“We are just nine games into the season and there is plenty time to go. It will be a tough game in Paisley but we have shown just how good we can be when we work hard for each other and pass the ball like we did against Inverness.

“We can win any game playing to that level, as we have proved a few times this season.”
