Jessie J fan Anne finds instant fame on Instagram

Anne's Jessie J pic has been picked up by thousands of the singer's fans.
Anne's Jessie J pic has been picked up by thousands of the singer's fans.

An Angus woman has expressed her astonishment that a photograph she took of pop star Jessie J earlier this week has been approved by the singer herself.

As well as being a fan, 32-year-old Anne Johnston is also a part-time photographer, and managed to get near the front at Monday’s gig at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre with her trusty compact camera.

She posted a picture of the star jumping in mid-air to her Instagram account after the show.

Anne woke up the next day to find that it had been reposted by Jessie J across her social media channels.

It has since has a huge response with tens of thousands of likes and retweets.

Anne, who lives in Forfar, said: “The concert itself was excellent, but to have one of my photos used by her is absolutely amazing.

“I love Jessie J and was just attending the concert as a fan, not in a professional capacity, but I managed to get quite close to the stage.

“I just had a small compact camera with me, but I set it to a high shutter speed as I knew Jessie would be giving an energetic performance and moving about a lot.

“I noticed that I had caught her jumping at the time, and I thought it could be a good photograph, but it’s hard to tell when you’re just looking at a camera’s small screen.”

Anne, who works for the Scottish Social Services Council in Dundee, was pleased with the image, so posted it online later that night.

“The next day I realised Jessie had used my photograph on her social media accounts with the message, ‘we are flying free’, which is one of her song lyrics,” Anne said.

“The response has been incredible. I’m just thrilled that she saw my photograph and liked it so much. It’s a really good feeling.

“Other fans have been very complimentary about it as well. I am bowled over by the response.”
