A drunken argument over the quality and speed of a woman’s cooking led to a violent assault.
After returning from a night out on the town with his friends, Andrew Pryde took a nap on the sofa of the Milnathort house he shared with his wife.
Upon wakening, he went through to the kitchen demanding food and became aggressive when she said he would have to wait.
The 45-year-old started swearing at her, telling her to hurry up and, when his partner served up the meal, he continued his tirade, saying it was “like a boot”.
Depute fiscal Rebecca Kynaston told Perth Sheriff Court: “The accused’s wife then offered to cut up his steak, so he could eat it more easily.
“The accused then shouted ‘no’ aggressively and slapped her on the side of the face, knocking her glasses off.”
Pryde was arrested shortly afterwards. Solicitor Steve Lafferty said his client was “ashamed” of his behaviour and had since reconciled with his partner.
He revealed the accused also admitted to a problem with alcohol and had taken steps to deal with it.
Pryde, of North Street, admitted that on October 14 last year, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner shouting, swearing and making sexually offensive remarks. He also admitted the assault on his wife.
Pryde was fined a total of £350 by the sheriff.
