Teenage girl punched boy in the face in unprovoked Arbroath attack

An Arbroath teenager has admitted assaulting a 15-year-old boy.
At the town’s sheriff court on Tuesday, Leah Soave, 17, of Dishlandtown Street, admitted that on November 20 on Keptie Road, Arbroath, she assaulted a 15-year-old boy and punched him on the face.
Depute fiscal Hazel Anderson said the assault was “completely unprovoked”.
She said: “The boy was walking up the road when he was approached by the accused, who asked him to remove his glasses. He refused to do this and Soave punched him in the face.
“He then restrained her. A friend of the accused followed the boy and said she was sorry about that, but said the accused was just giving a message to the complainer’s sister.”
Defence agent Keith Sym said Soave had been engaging with youth justice service.
Sheriff Peter Paterson said he required a background report and deferred sentence until May 21.
He told Soave: “This assault is completely unacceptable. I need to defer sentence for reports but if you commit any further offences I won’t hesitate to put you in jail. This sort of assault can not be tolerated.”
