Angus theatre company looking for dog to take a lead role

An Angus theatre company is literally looking for its top dog to star in a forthcoming production.

Rehearsals are well under way for the Rising Youngstars’ performance of Annie, the Musical. One of the show’s main characters is Sandy, the runaway dog Annie finds in the street and who soon becomes her best friend.

Director Fiona Brand said: “Sandy plays a very important part in this fabulous musical so we’re looking for a very special dog to join the talented young cast.

“There are no stipulations regarding Sandy’s breed, colour or size. We’re simply looking for a super-cute dog who is good with children, well-behaved and not afraid of loud noises.”

Auditions for the part will be held at 4.30pm on May 5 outside Northmuir Hall, Kirriemuir.

Ms Brand added: “If you think your dog has what it takes to be a star, bring him or her along.

“Unlike the Rising Youngstars, who are all excellent singers and dancers, Sandy doesn’t have to be able to dance or sing.”

The musical will be performed in Kirriemuir Town Hall at 7.30pm from June 12-14, with a matinee performance only on June 15.
