A murder victim who was found dead in his home has been named by police.
Brian Scott, 54, is said to have lived alone at the flat in Gilbert Circle, Dumfries, where his body was discovered on Friday. Police said Mr Scott, who was better known as “Tucker”, was originally from Stranraer.
His death was originally treated as unexplained but police said yesterday that they had launched a murder inquiry.
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Church, the senior investigating officer, said: “At this stage we are keen to trace and speak to anyone who may be able to help piece together Brian’s last movements on Thursday evening or Friday morning in or around his home in Gilbert Circle.
“We are also keen to trace anyone who may have been in the area of Gilbert Circle on Thursday evening, through to early Friday morning and who may have seen or heard anything which may help us in our enquiries into this death.”
