Angus charity champion Bobby Campbell has been stopped in his tracks by injury.
The Edzell pensioner is almost 1,750 miles into a 6,500-mile fundraiser for Poppy Scotland, making the eight-mile daily round trip between his village home and the Keithock roundabout, near Brechin.
But Bobby has not been the usual familiar sight to morning motorists after suffering painful plantar fasciitis in his foot and has been advised by doctors to rest up.
“It came on a couple of weeks ago and I rested it a bit but I tried again yesterday and it’s just too sore,” he said.
“I wanted people to know that I’m going to have to rest it for a wee while longer but I’ll be back on the road as soon as I can and I’ll definitely complete the challenge.”
Bobby, who was awarded the MBE in recognition of his fundraising, has clocked up tens of thousands of miles for a variety of causes over four decades.
As well as collecting cash from supporters en route, Bobby also keeps daily diaries of his walks to present to the recipient causes.
