A man has been critically injured after he was knocked down by a lorry in Fife.
Police Scotland Fife Division confirmed that the incident happened at the east end of Lundin Links around 11.45am on Tuesday.
The victim received medical care from a doctor within a few minutes of the accident happening on the A915 Lower Largo to Lundin Links road and was being taken by ambulance, with a police escort, to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.
It had been anticipated that the patient would be transferred to hospital by air ambulance. However, police confirmed he was now being taken by road ambulance.
The incident meant a number of roads in the area had to be closed for accident investigation, and it is expected they will be closed for some hours, resulting in localised congestion.
Inspector Brenda Sinclair, who is in charge of the incident, said: “I would appeal for anyone who witnessed this accident to contact the Police on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
