Police have appealed for witnesses to vandalism at Camperdown Park.
A bench was graffitied and some of the wooden fence posts surrounding the Crow’s Nest playpark were removed and thrown into the boating pond.
The vandalism took place between Friday and Sunday.
Police are keen to trace three boys who were seen in the area between 7.45pm and 8.30pm on Sunday.
They are described as being about 13 to 14 years old and were all wearing grey jogging bottoms and hooded tops.
The park bench was damaged sometime between 7pm on Friday and 9am on Saturday.
Dundee City Council environment convener Craig Melville said: “This is mindless destruction at a very popular area for families. I would call on anyone with any information to contact police.”
The cost of the repairs, to be carried out as soon as possible, is still being calculated but Councillor Melville said the expense was ‘unnecessary’ at a time when the council’s finances are tight.
A police spokeswoman said: “Vandalism is unacceptable no matter what form it takes.”
Anyone who can assist police inquiries can contact Tayside Division on 101 or speak to any officer.
