A Dundee man has been detained for seven months for possessing a knife in Angus.
Reece Smith, 19, King Street, Dundee, admitted that on December 7 at an address in Muirdrum, by Carnoustie, he caused damage to a property belonging to another, smashing a window while on bail.
He further admitted that on the same date at Muirdrum, by Carnoustie, he was in possession a knife while on bail.
Depute fiscal Jill Drummond told Arbroath Sheriff Court on Tuesday that police had been called after Smith had a disagreement with his family.
She said: “He was asked to leave the house by his mother, who locked the door. He left but returned 10 minutes later and realised the door had been locked by his family.
“The accused struck the front door, causing glass to smash.”
A defence agent said Smith had returned from working on a farm when the argument took place and the knife found was equipment he used on the farm.
Sheriff Peter Paterson sentenced Smith to three months’ detention for the property damage and seven months for possessing a knife, with the sentences to run concurrently.
