A 27-year-old man has been found dead at his home in Dundee, police have confirmed.
The body of Mark Burns was discovered by officers at a flat in Pitalpin Court on Thursday after he failed to turn up for a court appearance.
It is understood that Mr Burns’ body had lain in the flat for a number of days.
Police visited the flat on Wednesday after a local chemist contacted them, concerned that Mr Burns had not collected his prescription.
Officers did not believe the flat was habitable as it had recently been damaged by fire.
Mr Burns had been due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Thursday morning for a review hearing of a community payback order. When he did not appear police returned to the flat and forced entry.
Inspector Graham Young said: “We attended a flat at Pitalpin Court on Thursday May 2. The body of a male was found within the property.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.
“As with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
