Police are investigating an allegation that an Angus woman had under-age sex with a schoolboy.
The investigation into the Carnoustie mum is in relation to “allegations of a sexual nature”.
The woman has not been charged by police, however,
Police are believed to have been investigating the allegations for some time.
Officers are understood to be collating evidence before deciding on whether or not there are grounds to charge the woman.
They are believed to have already interviewed the teenage boy about the allegations.
The woman under investigation is thought to be in her late thirties.
A police spokeswoman said inquiries into the alleged incident were at an early stage.
She said: “Police Scotland is carrying out inquiries into allegations of a sexual nature concerning an incident in Carnoustie on Friday March 22.
“Inquiries are at an early stage and there is no further comment at this time.”
According to the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009, if a person who has attained the age of 16 years intentionally causes a child to participate in a sexual activity, then they have committed an offence.
This is known legally as the offence of causing an older child to participate in a sexual activity.
