‘Disappointed’ Dundee United boss wants end to wrangle
ByIan Roache
Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara has expressed a desire to end his cash wrangle with former club Partick Thistle.
United’s compensation package offer worth £80,000 was declined by the Jags after McNamara’s moved from Firhill to Tannadice earlier this year, while McNamara’s legal team have subsequently sought £40,000 in bonus money for their client.
The Tangerines gaffer insisted he is not seeking to cash in on Thistle’s promotion and would merely like the dispute sorted.
McNamara said: “I wish it was resolved. I think that’s the frustrating thing.
“I can assure people I don’t want anything from Partick Thistle money-wise. I think the way they have handled it is very dis-appointing.
“The compensation thing would have been sorted last month but they decided not to take it (the £80,000 offer) for some reason. So I’m waiting for the legal side of things and we’re playing legal games at the moment.
“Obviously as much as I’m disappointed and frustrated at the way they’ve dealt with it, I’m delighted that the players have managed to get promotion, which I knew they would.
“Once it’s resolved I’ll come out and say my side of things.”
