Raw Power Fitness has been given planning permission for a gym in a former industrial unit on North Isla Street.
A city council planning officer said: “In terms of the design and layout of the unit, it is considered that the premises are suitable for such a use and that there are other similar uses nearby.”
Allowing the gym to operate at Angus Works would not significantly worsen the parking situation in the area and conditions imposed on the consent would ensure that noise would not be a problem, the officer said.
Permission has also been granted retrospectively for a smoking shelter at Downfield FC Social Club. A council report said the timber shelter was behind a seven-foot wall and was not visible to the public.
“It was also well over 100 feet away from the nearest houses,” an officer said.
“In terms of issues of noise or smell, it is considered that the smoking shelter is located a sufficient distance away from nearby residents to have a negligible affect on their amenity.”
