Forfar teenager assaulted medical staff treating man during fit

A repeat offender who pushed a paramedic away from a fitting casualty and gave teenagers unprescribed drugs has been sent to detention.

Jordan Henderson received a six-month sentence at Forfar Sheriff Court on Thursday after pleading guilty to nine cases.

The 18-year-old from Bell Place, Forfar, admitted assaulting a paramedic and an ambulance technician on May 12 on Montrose Road, Forfar, by pushing one of them against a wall while they treated a man bleeding from the hand and taking a fit.

He then repeatedly attempted to punch and struggle with them, lashing out with his hands and feet.

On February 17 2011 he assaulted a man on Ernest Street, Arbroath, by throwing an ashtray at him, striking his head.

Henderson then supplied and administered the controlled drug methylphenidate to children who were aged 14 and 15 at his home address on September 1 the same year.

On June 12 2011 he assaulted a man in Taranty Road by striking him with a piece of wood to his injury.

Just three days later he committed a breach of the peace on North Street by walking into the path of vehicles, lying down in the street, shouting and swearing and acting aggressively towards a bus driver.

In an incident on August 25 last year he committed a breach of the peace and resisted arrest in Kirriemuir.

Henderson further admitted weaving across Arbroath Road, Forfar, on a bicycle while drunk on April 14 this year, shouting at motorists and brandishing a metal bar.

And on June 2, his latest offence was the theft of frozen food from a Co-op store in the town.

Henderson also breached bail conditions on numerous occasions.

Defence agent Nick Markowski said: “It is fair to say he doesn’t have any recollection whatsoever of most of the incidents.

“He is aware that his liberty is at risk. He is completely alone in life and had been from the age of 16.”

Sheriff Kevin Veal sentenced Henderson to a total of six months at Polmont Young Offenders Institution.

Henderson is due back in court on October 24 to be sentenced on a further two matters.
