A convicted killer has admitted assaulting his sister after smashing her living-room window with a bicycle.
Alan Stirling chased Angela Stirling, brandishing a cast-iron drain cover, after a row over babysitting, Dundee Sheriff Court heard.
Stirling, 36 who was jailed for culpable homicide in 2007 after battering his friend to death appeared from custody at court on Monday.
Stirling, of Finlow Terrace, admitted assaulting Angela Stirling at Salton Crescent on June 30 by throwing a vacuum cleaner at her, striking her foot.
He also admitted throwing a bicycle at a window in Salton Crescent, causing it to smash, and shouting and chasing Angelea Stirling, brandishing a drain cover.
Depute fiscal Ross Cargill told the court that Stirling had gone to his sister’s house with his partner to babysit.
Mr Cargill said: “There was an argument between the accused and his sister and she asked him to leave her house.
“He left, picked up the bike and threw it against the living-room window, smashing it. He then went back into the house, picked up the hoover and threw it at his sister, striking her in the foot.”
Mr Cargill said that Ms Stirling then ran from the house, followed by the accused, who removed a cast-iron drain cover and approached her, shouting.
John Boyle, defending, said the incident had been a family argument that “escalated out of control”.
Requesting bail, Mr Boyle said there was only one previous conviction “of particular concern” and his client had not been in trouble since his release from prison in 2009.
Sheriff Elizabeth Munro granted bail and deferred sentence until July 29.
Stirling was jailed for four years and eight months in 2007 after admitting repeatedly punching and kicking Paul McDonald on the head and body at a flat on Kemnay Gardens in 2006.
