The Rewind festival is set to become a permanent fixture on Perthshire’s events calendar.
Following the stunning success of this year’s festival, organisers confirmed that it is almost certain to return in 2014 and for the foreseeable future.
Campers have packed up and made their weary way home, having enjoyed yet another superb event. The weekend of 80s nostalgia was a 30,000 sell-out, with some of the decade’s biggest acts returning to the stage in the grounds of Scone Palace.
Dedicated fans enjoyed a line-up including Kim Wilde, Belinda Carlisle, Soul II Soul, Rick Astley, UB40, the Human League, A Flock of Seagulls and Mike and the Mechanics.
The good-natured festival even provided some great weather at least on Saturday and once again proved a hit with both acts and audience alike.
Delighted event organiser David Heartfield told The Courier: “In all 30,000 people had a fantastic weekend and everyone seemed to be getting into the spirit of things, on both sides of the stage.
“This is now an annual event and we see no reason that it should move from Scone Palace next year, or in the years to come. The grounds make for a great venue and I feel that the event is now at its optimum size, having grown since it was launched.
“It’s all about the atmosphere here and the event so far has been almost trouble-free. If we get too large there may be issues with traffic and the like, and we don’t want that to happen.”
The work of cleaning up after the event will now begin but while that can take weeks after events such as T in the Park, Mr Heartfield believes it may take a few days to remove all traces of Rewind.
“Many of our campers get into the spirit by sharing larger tents and our experience is that they take them away when they leave,” he said.
“It should take no more than three or four days to clear up after the festival. Overall, the whole experience has once again been very positive.”
