Dundee boss John Brown has stressed that his team will be attack-minded in every single league game this season.
On the eve of their first Scottish Championship clash against Queen of the South, Brown hammered home his intention to have a go whenever the Dark Blues take the field.
For him, there will be no sitting in and hitting on the break at potentially tricky away venues like Palmerston.
Instead, they will continually be aiming to stamp their authority on the opposition.
“This season is a massive one for us and we want to come back up first time,” said Brown.
“We will be setting our team out to win every game we play. You have to defend at the right times but we will not be a counter-attacking team.
“We have players who are good enough to go and create chances and that is what we will aim to do. We have a tighter squad but, touch wood, if we can keep everyone fit then we will have an experienced group.
“Guys like Gavin Rae, Peter MacDonald, Gary Irvine, Iain Davidson and Kevin McBride all know what it takes to win matches at this level. Everybody is fine and looking forward to Saturday now.
“Pre-season is out of the way so we need to get good performances and win games now.”
Brown watched the Doonhamers thump Annan Athletic 3-0 in the Scottish Communities League Cup, with former Dark Blue frontman Derek Lyle bagging a hat-trick to make it six in three matches for him.
Of particular interest to the Dens boss was the new synthetic surface at the Dumfries ground.
“I saw them last weekend and is is a new astroturf surface they have down there,” he said.
“The pitch might be awkward because I think even the Queens players still have to get used to it. We have played four or five games on the astro during the summer so have managed to get the hang of it.
“We have eight games on artificial pitches this season so we had to prepare. Also, we are facing a club that has just been promoted so it will be a tough game.
“Derek Lyle scored a hat-trick and he has a good eye for goal so we will have to watch him. We will need to be at our best to win the game.
“However, we are going there full of confidence, having had a solid pre-season. Now we will find out the level of the other teams in our league but if our boys play to their full potential then we will have a right good shout.
“The lads are desperate and determined to get out there.”
Lyle, meanwhile, is relishing coming up against his former side.
He said: “Dundee at home is a tough start and having been there as a player I know how big a club they are.
“They are the favourites for the league and I am under no illusions that they are the best team in the Championship.
“I enjoyed my time there and had a great first season but it ended on a bit of a low note when I signed a pre-contract with Hamilton and it became public.
“I had continued to live in Glasgow and I wanted to cut down on the travelling and that is why I was going to Hamilton but that is water under the bridge now.”
