A mystery good samaritan has been credited with saving the life of a Dundee woman who collapsed after a holiday flight.
Margaret Campbell, from Craigiebank, was travelling back from visiting relatives in Benidorm when she fell ill on her easyJet flight from Alicante to Glasgow.
After collapsing on arrival, a kind-hearted fellow passenger rushed to her aid, according to her husband Kenny.
It later emerged that Mrs Campbell, 55, was suffering from Legionnaires disease, a life-threatening lung condition.
“If it wasn’t for this lady my wife might have died,” Mr Campbell said.
“Thankfully this woman was there to help my wife and get her first aid while the paramedics were called.
“She saved my wife’s life and we both just want to say a big thank you, so it would be great if she could get in touch.”
Mr Campbell had been waiting for Margaret at the airport on July 20.
He said: “I had gone to meet my wife at the airport and realised something was wrong when she didn’t come through the gate with the other passengers.
“Eventually a policeman came out and told me the news. My wife was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, where they thought that she might have pneumonia.
“Some of her organs even stopped working properly, her lungs collapsed and she was in an induced coma and taken into intensive care.”
Thankfully Mrs Campbell has started to recover and was able to return home to Dundee this week.
However, her husband added: “She’s still very weak. It’s been a huge physical and emotional strain knowing that she almost died.”
The woman who helped Mrs Campbell was sitting in the seat along from her on the plane, 3C, and is said to be young with dark hair.
“My wife says she would know her again if she saw her,” Mr Campbell said.
A spokeswoman for easyJet said: “We’re working hard to find the mystery helper and hope the customer will be able to pass on their thanks in person soon.”
